2) Getting the word out that you are available for work - Part A (make it easy for your network of family, friends and associates to help you) If you are typical, as you tell your family, friends and associates you are out of work, they are going to offer to help. The best way you can help them to help you is to have a résumé ready. They can then pass this on to those who they think would be interested in you, or know someone who would benefit from having you working for them. I believe it is extremely important, no matter how simple you choose to make this document, that your résumé reflect who you are and what you have to offer. At this point, it is a mistake to try to create a résumé that will please everyone. Only later (much later), if opportunities in your area of expertise & that give you joy seem to be unavailable, you might consider a "stop-gap" position. However, at this point, it is extremely easy to allow panic or a sense of worthlessness to steer you in the direction of accepting any job when you still have resources and time available to seek out a position that will be a good fit, allow you to grow & support yourself in comfort. As a professional résumé writer, I offer one-on-one assistance (click here for services and pricing) as well as economically-priced one-day workshops throughout the San Francisco Bay Area (if you have 20 or more attendees in a single location outside this area who want to attend a workshop, please call for special arrangements) Call toll-free: 1 (888) 283-4703.
